These real rooster wing/tail feathers are solid black with a touch of softer black fluff at their base. These are long stiff feathers with strong quills. They may have a metallic touch depending on how the light hits them. Otherwise, they appear to be a silky solid black. They have a slight curve & a little bit of lift. These types of feathers quills can be cut in nib shapes for very old fashioned calligraphy pens or can be slightly more modernized by placing a pretty metal nib tip on the quill.

Do you know where your feathers come from? When you buy from Running Bug Farm you do! My birds are cruelty free and humanely raised. They live outside 365 days a year free ranging on pasture the way Mother Nature intended. My Eco farming style is also known as pastoral. I supplement my animals natural pasture and woodland foraging with certified organic feed to ensure they have the healthiest chemical free Non GMO diet possible. I use natural holistic methods to treat my animals and myself. Running Bug Farm is better than organic. Your purchase supports my Eco farm and I thank you!

I clean my birds feathers using well water, organic soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.

Feathers are hand packaged and labeled. Labels provide my farms info., type of bird, quantity, and size.

Feathers are from my Eco farm; raised, cared for and loved by my family. I am not a feather reseller.

Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.

I have provided photos of these feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States copper penny (1¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale.

If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
