Natural black tail feathers for crafts. These real feathers may have a slightly dark metallic sheen depending on how the light reflects off of them. They have firm neutrally colored undamaged quills that are tapered. There is some fluff at the base of these chicken feathers. The main upper body has a slight curve and is generally flat. These are stiff, strong feathers. They can be damaged if they are bent. The feather surface has a rippled texture.

I clean my birds feathers using well water, organic soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.

Feathers are hand packaged and labeled. Labels provide my farms info., type of bird, quantity, and size.

Feathers are from my Eco-farm; raised, cared for and loved by my family. I am not a feather reseller.

Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.

I have provided photos of these feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States silver quarter (25¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale. I have also provided photos of these feathers in my hand for those who prefer not to use standard measurements. The two photos show a loose bunch of approximately sixteen of these feathers in my hand. One with the body up, quills down and the other in the opposite; quills up, body down.

If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
