These natural feather secondaries are from the wings of my Barred Rock hens. Their main color is a soft black gently blended with a small amount of white barring. These are stiff craft feathers with a slight curve and lift to their shape. Secondary wing feathers are a little wider than primary wing feathers. I think of secondaries as plump and primaries as thin. The plumes have opaque quills that are strong and finely pointed. I have taken care to provide the closest matching right and left pairs as possible.
- Qty: 12 Barred Rock hen feathers (Gallus domesticus)
- Size: Approx. 6-6.5" inches / 15.24-16.51 centimeters

These feathers make a nice substitute for Hawk Feathers. Hawk feathers are not only illegal to sell, they are also illegal to own or use in crafts. In no way, shape, or form is it allowed for non American Indian folks to possess these types of feathers. My Barred Rock's feathers substitute nicely & you wont risk being on the wrong side of the law.
I clean my birds feathers using filtered well water, Eco soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.
Feathers are hand packaged and labeled with my farms information, the type of bird, the quantity and the size.
I am not a feather reseller. I exclusively sell feathers only from my own humanely raised birds on my small Eco-farm.
Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.
Size: XXL
Size Examples:
I have provided photos of feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States silver quarter (25¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale. I have also provided photos of feathers in my hand for those who prefer not to use standard measurements.
If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
