These real bird feathers are a lovely shade of light grey. They may naturally have slightly darker or lighter lines or marks in them. They are loose feathers and are not stiff. They have plenty of soft dove grey fluff at their base. This color in chickens is called lavender. It is very similar to the Blue Slate turkey feather color except without the splashes dark marks Blue Slate turkeys are known for. Organic feathers are used in a wide variety of crafts and projects including haberdashery, art, recreational sports and ceremonial purposes.
- Qty: Approx. 25 assorted Lavender Orpington hen feathers
- Size: Approx. 3-3.5" inches / 7.62-8.89 centimeters
I have taken photos on three different natural backgrounds to help you determine how these feathers look. The last photo is of two of my girls freely ranging about for tasty tidbits.
I clean my birds feathers using well water, organic soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.
Feathers are hand packaged and labeled. Labels provide my farms info., type of bird, quantity, and size.
Feathers are from my Eco-farm; raised, cared for and loved by my family. I am not a feather reseller.
Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.
Size: M
Size Examples:
I have provided photos of these feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States silver quarter (25¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale.
If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
