Natural hen hackle feathers are narrow and tapered with fine eyelash fringe along the edges. The base of these feathers is soft and fluffy; matching the color of the fringe. They have orange-brown colored (called buff) centers with contrasting creamy white on the outer edges (called laced). These real bird feathers have not been altered or dyed. They have been cleaned and are ready for use.
- Qty: Approx. 30 assorted Buff Laced Polish hen hackle feathers
- Size: Approx. 1.5-2.5" inches / 3.81-6.35 centimeters
Rare Breed / TLC Conservation Priority: Watch; see resources.
The currency in the photo is a United States quarter. The quarter & the ruler are pictured with the feathers to help assist you in deciding if the feathers in this listing are the size range that you need.
I clean my birds feathers using filtered well water, Eco soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.
Feathers are hand packaged and labeled with my farms information, the type of bird, the quantity and the size.
I am not a feather reseller. I exclusively sell feathers only from my own humanely raised birds on my small Eco-farm.
Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.
Size: S
Size Examples:
I have provided photos of these feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States silver quarter (25¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale. I have also provided photos of these feathers in my hand for those who prefer not to use standard measurements. Two photos show a loose bunch of approximately thirty of these feathers in my hand. The third photo shows two feathers laying across my fingers. I selected the smallest (1.5") and the largest (2.5") to help show the size variation in this sizes grouping.
If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
