Miniature Speckled Sussex hen hackle feathers for crafts from my own real pastoral birds. These tiny hackles come in shades of red-brown, black, and grey. Some of these mini plumes may have a speck of white at their tip, revealing their speckled genome. Along their slightly tapered edges is fine eyelash fringe. There is fluff at their base. These miniature hackle feathers are the smallest size available for their type. The largest size in this range is a speck under one and a half inches with the smallest size being anything less than this, which at times can be incredibly tiny.
- Qty: Approx. 30 assorted Speckled Sussex hen feathers
- Size: Approx. any size < 1.5" inches / 3.81 centimeters
Rare Breed / TLC Conservation Priority: Recovering; see resources.
I clean my birds feathers using filtered well water, Eco soap, vinegar and heat sterilization.
Feathers are hand packaged and labeled with my farms information, the type of bird, the quantity and the size.
I am not a feather reseller. I exclusively sell feathers only from my own humanely raised birds on my small Eco-farm.
Feathers are from my smoking free home, although I do heat my home exclusively with a wood stove as I am almost entirely off of the grid and this is my only source of heat.
Size: XS
Size Examples:
I have provided stock photos of feathers with a United States Standard ruler which is twelve inches long (12"). A standard United States silver quarter (25¢) is pictured with the ruler to further assist with scale. I have also provided photos of feathers next to my hand for those who prefer not to use standard measurements.
If you are unsure of the size of feathers that you need, I strongly recommend getting a ruler, tape measure, dress makers tape, etc. and looking at the size/s you need in inches (rather than using the eyeball it in the hand method). First measure where you want to use the feathers and what your expectations are. When you see the approximate length, write it down and compare that length in inches to the feathers I have listed to help you find the size that's perfect for your needs.
