The Flower Book
Friends of ours grow & sell cut flowers as their full time job. They used to sell at the farmers market (where we met as farmers market neighbors), but stopped as it wasn't profitable for them. They also sell to restaurants, florists, & regular folks who are getting married, & that sort of thing. Over the years of knowing them, I watched their frustration as they tried various methods to pull in more sales at the farmers market. They sold completed bouquets, build your own bouquets, donated vases they made out of wine bottles with their flowers to a farmers market charity event, & more.
When I came across this book, I knew it would be perfect for them. I have read it & see many of the flowers they themselves grow & I think the tips on making your own flower arrangements are excellent. Information about growing different flowers is broken down by when they are in season, which is so perfect as they are real farmers, & their flowers reflect the seasons.
This book is huge, hard cover, & full color. The pictures are large & clearly presented, enabling the reader/grower to really study the flower from petal to stem. Overall I love this book & am thrilled to have such a appropriate & lovely gift for our amazing friends.
