Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss
In today's day it's pretty safe to bet that most of us stopped blindly believing that the government would allow us to consume "foods" if they were harmful. Even now despite the laws requiring nutrition facts & an ingredients panel, companies hardly give full disclosure as to just what they are putting in these so called foods.
There are plenty of people who have the opinion that we need to just stop buying these harmful "foods". Yes, that is true but manufactures deceptively market their products to give the unsuspecting consumer a false sense of security that the food is healthy. Example: A yogurt bar. Better than a candy bar right? Yet it contains more sugar than a candy bar! Health food it is not. Sugar, after all is the number one cause of heart disease.
We all know we shouldn't eat a bunch of cookies, candy & chips. But do we really understand fully the why of it besides the vague it's not healthy? Michael Moss helps bring light to this confusion. The food giants did hook us. They did it to make money. They want us to buy their products & in order to get us to do so, they make addictive foods. Calling their customers "users" aka addicts.
Vote with your money & you will see change. Nothing speaks louder than how we spend our money, so spend wisely! I sincerely hope you read this eye opening book & that it motivates you to make positive changes for a happy healthy life.
Besides Salt Sugar Fat, I also highly recommend Fast Food Nation, King Korn, Food Inc., & Seeds Of Deception.
