The Green Juicing Recipe Book: 75 Recipes For Weight Loss, Glowing Skin, And Boosted Energy by Carey Avalon
I love juicing & had to stop because I was getting way too many sugars. I'm currently on a diet similar to the AIP diet but for endometriosis (The Endometriosis Health & Diet Program by DR. Cook MD). In it, sugar is severely restricted, especially in phase one. However, it gets a tad less restrictive as you work through the phases. Low sugar juicing is recommended for the easy digestion & nutrients. Yeah! This Green Juicing book is all about cutting down on the sugars, so it's darn near perfect for my health needs.
One of the things the author does, is add non juicing ingredients to the final product. This is something I have never done before, so it was rather novel for me. For example, adding cocoa powder, maca powder, &/or protein powder (there are more than these three). This is too advanced for me regarding my Endo Diet but others may find it enjoyable. As my healing progresses, I look forward to trying these combinations.

Each recipe provides a brief explanation, ingredients list, & full set of instructions, along with some type of tip or advice & nutritional info. such as calories, fat, sugars, carbs, fiber, & protein.
One of my favorite things about this book (aside from the total sugar & carbs list) are the little tips at the end of the directions for each recipe.
Variation tip: Cucumbers provide a wonderful way to coll and calm irritated skin. Pour some pure cucumber juice into a spray bottle and spritz on your face. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Beauty tip: Buy an extra sweet potato t make a conditioner for dry hair. Peel and boil the potato, then mash it up with 1 cup of yogurt and 1 tablespoon honey. Apply to hair for 15 minutes, then rinse.
Did you know?: Wheat grass has been known to soothe menstrual pain, which can be worsened by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. A daily shot of fresh wheat grass juice (alone or in combination with other greens) is highly nourishing and supports your body's natural detoxification process.
Note: I want to point out that even though the author provides recipes to use wheat grass, it really doesn't juice in a regular juicer. If fresh wheat grass is your thing, you'll want to invest in a proper juicer that is designed for wheat grass.
Overall, I am glad I decided to get this book. It provides me with a nice amount of recipes to add a little variety to my juicing options while I work on healing.
